Para-Church organizations have been in existence for quite some time. In the early history of the United States, children could run around on the streets. Many were dirty, hungry and in need of something good. The churches of those early days did not have programs for children; no teaching and no fellowship. A group of individuals, outside of the church, began a program for children. They would help the children come in form the streets, clean them up and provide food for many of the children. The group went further by presenting Sunday school lessons. This Program for children grew. Churches became interested in the program. Soon, churches began to so the same type of program for children and, before long, the Sunday school was born. It was because some individuals provided the early steps that the churches soon began to take the program into their structure. This was the beginning of para-church organizations. The parachurch organization came alongside of the church.
Today, there are many para-church organizations, specializing in the specific program like Sunday school, that are helping churches perform such programs in their churches. Para-church organizations have been coming alongside of the churches for years. The organizations provide leadership, training and resources to a church to fill the need in the church’s program.
